Shenanigans on the high seas. A photographic collection from commercial towing life, documenting the moments between jobs, the copious alone-time, and the unexpected beauty of working maritime.
In 2018, I started captaining boats part-time, balancing it with enterprise healthcare work. Over the years, the water kept calling. By late 2023, I was picking up more and more jobs on tow-boats. In 2024, I leaned into it fully, splitting my time between commercial towing and rediscovering my love for hands-on work.
In 2025, I worked 62 commission jobs—about half of those solo. I didn't track the non-commission work, but there was plenty of that too. These images document the journey: the early morning watches, the copious alone-time, the unexpected beauty of industrial maritime operations, and the constant reminder that the ocean doesn't care about your schedule.
When I first thought about including this work on my portfolio, I wasn't sure it would fit. A tech career and commercial towing feel like different worlds. But looking at it now, I'm glad I made the effort. This has been a big part of my life the last couple years, and it fits just fine.
